TEA TIME WITH RUTHIE: Go Pray!!

I know, I’m shocked too. But times like this we realise that Ruth does not run this blog at all. I just follow instructions.

While I was thinking about what to share with you guys, something very important came up, even while I was reading in my scheduled time this week.

We are in a season where we need to be vigilant. We have no excuse for why we aren’t even communicating with God. We are so comfortable to just say that it is something we struggle with and do nothing about it.

Most of us know, we know we lack in the prayer department but we somehow feel convicted, but not enough to actually start praying or getting back into the habit of praying.

Now I saw a quote once that said,

You learn to pray by praying.

Unknown.

Now, I know a lot of times we hear the same things over and over about why this person doesn’t want to pray. They most times have a reason like this, they don’t know how to.

I know we all are differnet but what is it gonna take for you to just start? At this point, you’ve gotten so many signs from God (maybe including this blog) yet still, Netflix sees you more often than “Dear God” or “Heavenly Father.”

TAKE TIME OUT TO PRAY‼‼‼‼

Let’s see what the Word says about this because at this point, no human word can convince us but the words influenced by God.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. – 1 John 5:14

Additional Resources, and here is another.

Those are just a few verses that you can reflect on but I wanted us to think a bit on this…

After a while in my relationship with God, I wanted to be praying more and intercede on behalf of others more frequently. What I did decide to do was to literally stop what I’m doing when someone asks for prayer and pray. I either go in the bathroom, outside if I have to etc. I sometimes even send the messages to them.

That is one strategy that I have used to be practical about my prayer life and to grow. I never waited on anyone to prophecy to me that I’m an intercessor. As a matter of fact, I think Dr Myles Munroe said it best, “Every Christian is an intercessor. It’s not a gift. It’s a requirement”. Now I know that is new for so many of us because if we look in our churches, many would be convinced that our prayer meetings were just a little clique from the congregation that has spare time. BUT we are all called to be praying.

That is all, go pray.
