WHAT I LEARNT FROM: Putting Service Over Self

A few years ago I attended youth week at a branch from my former church.

The theme was “Service Over Self” and at that time I was really reflecting on my actions.

Did I do things because I was going to benefit in the long run or was it because I found it pleasing to God to put them before me?

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.โ€

Luke 6:38

To add to yesterday’s blog post, we are here on Earth to minister to others right?

Oftentimes we think that in order to do that we need to prophecy and pray and use the spiritual gifts. All of that is good…

But sometimes, we need to actively do the great commission. Which is to love.

“They will know we are Christian’s by our love”. How many times have you done something for someone, not for the purpose of expecting expecting anything in return, but just for them to benefit?

We forget that to act in love means to also put the desires of others before us. We don’t realise that how we treat others is also a part of our ministry.

Even with modern culture pushing “self care” and “self love”, we need to “people love”. We need to love and care for others. Sometimes that means sacrificing your time. That sometimes even means denying self and sometimes we cannot even move on because we silently struggle or we have difficulties realizing that what we are experiencing is not just about us, but about how we can help others out of the same situation.

And recently we talked about not being too broken for God. You are never too broken to serve. Sometimes your healing comes in serving others.

I want us to think about how important it is for us to be available. Be available to be there for others without thinking of ourselves. How can I effectively change the world today?

Can I give someone my last snack out of love? I don’t need to even think about how they can help me in the future. I just need to be available to give up my time.

Remember this every day you wake up, “service over self”. That was how Jesus walked this earth. He did everything for you. What can you do in return??

Today is recognized as World Wildlife Day 2021 and the theme is “Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet.โ€

What can you do today to help sustain the life of others and the planet? God instructed us to take care of Earth correct

Here is what you need to know about today.

March 3 is to raise awareness of issues that impact wildlife.

– India Today

World Wildlife Day is observed to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s wild animals and plants and discussing the threats they are facing and the urgent need for governments, civil society, private sector actors, and individuals to add their voices and take actions to help conserve wildlife and ensure its continued use is sustainable. The day also highlights the issues such as urbanization, poaching, pollution, destruction of wildlife habitat, and the ways that humans can contribute to conservation efforts.
