NOTES: Appointed to Serve

I do hope that this reminds you of the important role that you play in the kingdom of God and how significant it is that you were even called to this position before you were born. As usual, I add to what was originally in the notes to give some context and better understanding. Be blessed.

MAIN TEXT: Jeremiah 1:4-9
Reference: Romans 1:1 & Isaiah 6:8

INTRO: Appointed as lead servants or servant leaders is more about serving as an example to others of what Jesus did and is.

1.  You were Appointed or Ordained long ago.

God knew long before ministers and prophets that you are appointed. He has his hand on your life. It’s a matter of if you open your heart and make yourself available to him.

• Before you were born

No matter what others want to say or think, this is for you.

If you see opportunities opening for you, it is God preparing you and providing for the appointment.

• Set apart for Him

You have to cooperate with God.

God will concentrate you and set you apart.

Set yourself apart for God to use you.

He will guide you like the good shepherd he is.

• Special purpose.

Unless you are on the same page as God, you won’t know what God has in store for you.

As you walk, you will see and hear it

The calling is on your life, it’s just for you to wake up and step into that confidence, trusting that His plans are not to harm you.

Life is not just about waking up, eating, TV and sleeping.

2.  He came to serve.

• Jesus Christ is our example

As we agree with God, we see Jesus, the servant leader.

God has a way of blessing his servant.

God will ensure it’s placed on someone’s heart to pray for you.

Humility is key. (Not false humility now).

Humility: dependency on God.

Everything we do, is of God.

Not so much your skills, it’s God using you.

• Not about adulations; receiving

They submit because you carry the aroma of Jesus.

Your personality should seem like Jesus.

• Not about receiving

You are called in the same way as Jesus.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

Luke 4:18-19

Isaiah 61 (READ)

3.  Serving

There is nothing you can do for God.

He is God all by Himself.

His love causes Him to do what He does, not a must.

He “allows” you to participate.

• Giving, self, sacrifice.

It’s going to cost you to give of yourself. Your time, your emotions, your desires for His.

The ultimate sacrifice was Jesus. (Which was dying for our sins).

• Requires Time and Effort.

Responsibility  requires planning and effort.

• Not always convenient

Sometimes you will question the position and appointment.

It is however well worth it.

What’s done for Christ will last.

Serving God means worship.

Understand what serving means.

You aspire worth to God.

Serving God means you worship and out of your worship, you serve others.
