TEA TIME WITH RUTHIE: Eat More Often

Since Quarantine, a lot of us came to the realisation that we didn't exactly have God at the center of our lives. We all "had important stuff to do" and "priorities". Many of us got the awakening that really and truly, we do not run the world. Life happens, things out of human control happens,... Continue Reading →

REFLECTION: #ISTANDWITHASIA

I started this post almost a month ago and had it in my drafts, and a friend of mine made a little nudge on her story yesterday that prompted me to post this. Take it off the shelf and be okay with these words. I'm going to be very honest, it's so scary to me that a few years ago I would never take any pictures of myself whatsoever!! (Many of my friends are literally like, "whhaaattt are you talking about????") Growing up, I was always: the ugly friend, the 'girlfriend's ugly friend but nice', the 'acne/breakouts topic', the 'odd one out', the 'not cute enough', and the 'okay one'. STORYTIME: It Must Have Been a Guardian Angel – Part 2

This story isn't as long as the one before, but it's quite short and memorable. It was also with Aunty Jackie in the vehicle, this time, my mom was driving us all home from school and work. Now that a little mental view is set, lets begin.ย  Some time last year we were in a line of traffic awaiting being checked by the police officers and soldiers, and I think my mother was too caught up in the conversation we were having that she didn't realise an officer was making an order, she was to STOP...!!!!!

MY WORK: I CAN’T BREATHE

Black Girl Writes Series I wrote this piece and published it on June 9th this year and I thought that it would remind many of us of the many tragedies that we as a race have faced over the years. I hope that we all can not just feel sad, hopeless or attacked at the injustice, but try our best to do something about it. Speak up, let us hear your stories. Let's talk about it with our children. I intend on doing a 4-Part Breakdown of this piece and I hope that it will help us to dissect the issues mentioned and also look at how racial profiling, inequality and hate can be. I also wanted to add to my collection of "Black Girl Writes" series and address some other issues that are prevalent in the black community. "I can't breathe and you know it. If I tried to resist it wouldn't be any easier. Day by day, one by one, you try to kill us off like Trayvon. You take us because of superiority, or that's what they like to call it".
