TEA TIME WITH RUTHIE: What Makes God Smile

In my devotions this past week, I read a chapter from a book focusing on a Purpose Driven Life and this day in particular really caught my attention! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The purpose of why we are on Earth is to please God. All of us desire deeply for God to smile at us.

In order to do that, the bible says we are to figure out what pleases Christ and then do that. (Eph. 5:10)

WHEN DOES GOD SMILE?

1. God smiles when we love Him supremely.

When we constantly follow His will. He wants a relationship. He wants to know you.

2. God smiles when we trust Him completely.

Trusting Him even when it makes no sense. Expecting Him to keep His promises, help with them and do the impossible when necessary.

3. God smiles when we obey him wholeheartedly.

Delayed obedience is disobedience. Understanding can sometimes wait, but disobedience cannot. You’ll never understand some commands until you obey them first. Obedience unlocks understanding. Obey Him gladly. Have the attitude of David when it came to obedience.

4. God smiles when we praise and thank Him continually.

When we give God enjoyment, our own hearts are filled with joy; it increases our joy.

5. God smiles when we use our abilities.

Not only spiritual activities. There are no unspiritual ones, only misused ones. He gains pleasure watching us enjoy His creation and that enjoyment becomes worship. He enjoys watching you sleep. He doesn’t require you to be perfect. He loves you at all stages of spiritual development.

Point to Ponder:

God smiles when I trust Him.

Verse to Remember:

Psalm 147:11, “the Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.”

Question to Consider:

Since God knows what is best, in what areas of my life do I need to trust Him most?
