NOTES: When God Carries Us

It is that time of the week again family where I share some old notes that I have and see what God is saying to us in this season. I strongly believe that God sometimes speaks to us in different ways from the same text. So even if I thought I got all I needed in the season that I listened to this sermon, there is a high possibility that what I read now will be beneficial to the season you and I are in.

And as always, be blessed.

MAIN TEXT: Matthew 18:12-14

12“What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? 13 And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. 14 Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

Matthew 18:12-14

References: Isaiah 40:11, 56:3, 1 Peter 2:25, Psalm 23

11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

Isaiah 40:11

Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the Lord, speak, saying, The Lord hath utterly separated me from his people: neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.

Isaiah 56:3

25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.

1 Peter 2:25

Introduction: He is that Good Shepherd.

There is something that happens before God carries us.

Even when we do nothing spiritually.

Before you are being carried by the Lord, he goes after us.

The Shepherd often checks his flock.

He does this to make sure that they are all accounted for.

If you are not in the right place, he will call you.

He does it one at a time.

He sees you but does not see you.

That is his demonstration of love, going out of his way.

He puts a mark on us. Gives us all a name. And calls us by name.

He left the 99 at a safe place. Don’t feel neglected or alone. Sometimes we are serving God and it feels like nothing is happening. You are safe and protected. You are provided for. Count your blessings. Sometimes we don’t realize what we have and complain about what we do not have.

God is looking out for your good.

Not a hired hand.

He doesn’t go casually to look for you. He searches every corner. Put his life at risk to recover you. Leaves no stone unturned.

After chasing, he chastens us.

You should expect to get corrections and some talk time.

When they break the leg, it is to slow down the sheep. Prevents them from wandering too far.

Because he is closer to the shepherd they won’t forgot their name.
