TEA TIME WITH RUTHIE: It’s Actually Prayer Time

Something that I thought about recently was the growth that I have experienced over the years. There was a time that I never thought for a second about growing or improving. There were a lot of moments that I couldn’t care less about growth and development.

Now that I am in a different place and now in a season of really pushing others into that direction, I realise how easy it is for us to be comfortable with where we are at and being content in not moving forward.

Let’s focus a bit on prayer because something that I realised is that many Christians do not pray. The world already assumes that we pray and fast all day, and half of the church leaves that to the intercessors and the known prayer warriors…

Now I do recall a while back that I told you guys to Go Pray. I remember even writing a letter to those who Need to Pray. And another, Good Morning Abba Praying… I think I have been on a roll. Wonder how many really got themselves back on that saddle… Don’t worry, I will NOT keep your secret. I hope that made you uncomfortable.

I believe that it is very much time for you to get back on track with God, what do you think/ Let me mind my business…

What is Prayer?

We are all taught a thing or two about prayer and the universal answer is communication with God right? It is our portal to new dimensions with Christ and all that comes wit being intimate with Him. But there is another side that many don’t really talk about…

Prayer is the portal that brings the power of heaven down to earth. It is kryptonite to the enemy and to all his ploys against you.”

Priscilla Shirer  (Author of Fervent)

What then does this mean? Are we in a Sci-Fi? How does this work exactly?

Great questions!!! I’d love to hear your answers. But I want us to look a bit on what the word says about Prayer.

“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”

Romans 12:12

“Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:5-7

NO. There are not only two verses in the entire bible on prayer. That is your assignment. Find at least 5 more and then continue reading. Ensure you don’t just find them but you also dissect each of them.

Resources

And as usual, I had a few things that I thought could help you in studying a bit more on prayer and understanding what it means. I only gave two so that you can really venture into looking for these things on your own as well. There is no one way to learning. Some things you’ll learn after being exposed to a few things. Have fun!

Know this, I do not want you to wait until a “serious” moment or experience before you decide that prayer is important. I know that when some things in life happen, you will need more than a easily repeated prayer with no intimacy with God. You MUST have your weapons sharpened and ready until battle, which by the way, does not stop. Priscilla Shirer in the same book Fervent mentioned that we should not play fair because the enemy does not. The enemy won’t give you a day off because you ae unwell etc. So he is geared up and ready. You have the one that has never lost a battle on your side, so study the word and PREPARE TO FIGHT.
