Now, this is actually one of the most random blogs that I’ve ever done in my entire life. I know we all know by now unless you’re in a season of denial (I’m praying for you) that we all have things that we need to work on.
From the impatient driver to the avoider of all conflicts, we all need some help. Most times we think of bad habits we steer toward people who keep the toilet seat open, or people that keep forgetting that their bed needs to be spread…

I know I called out a few of you guys, but that’s okay. Let’s reflect on this. Recently I mentioned that some of us have some Soul Decluttering to do and if you think about it, cutting bad habits may be a part of it.
My intention really was to spark a bit of a conversation about what bad habits really come to mind when you think of yourself. Maybe even bad habits that others have expressed to you that you have.
Now I wanted us to know what this looks like and how it links to our relationship or faith in God. Let’s go.
A patterned behaviour regarded as detrimental to one’s physical or mental health, which is often linked to a lack of self-control.

Now you know I am about to drag a bit on that term, “SELF CONTROL”. What does self-control look like to you? Did you even think prior to this that you can lack self-control in “some” areas? Or are you an individual that believes people who lack self-control are like drug addicts and gamblers?
SELF-CONTROL: The ability to control oneself, in particular one’s emotions and desires, especially in difficult situations.
Oxford Languages
I do hope you realise how bad that is… We all need to realise that we all have a bad habit or 400… Are you operating in love when you glorify and allow your bad habits? Now I am not here to call anyone perfect, but are we going to talk about the fact that they sometimes hinder our breakthroughs because of the things we do to accommodate our lifestyle?
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self–control; and to self–control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
2 Peter 1:5-8
The latest time I recall using this verse was on a post, “For This Reason, Love“. What are you doing in love? How are your actions pushing you to add to these attributes?
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”
2 Timothy 1:7 NIV
Are you operating in the way that God instructed for your life? Now that sounds like one we can think about.
Think on these things and we can talk a bit more about this another time. Remember to have self-control!!
