NOTES: Maximizing Your Faith

Competition Reminder

It has been long overdue. I know, when was the last time I called Dr Myles Munroe’s name? It has actually been a minute.

Maximizing your Faith – Myles Monroe

  1. There are questions in life that we can never answer, so don’t try to invent answers. Don’t speak about what you don’t know about.
  2. There are things we cannot explain, don’t try to be deep.
  3. There are things in life you can never change.
  4. There are things in life we cannot control.
  5. There are things in life we cannot stop. Like death. You can’t even choose when it happens.
  6. There are things in life we cannot take responsibility for. Some things we take responsibility for and it destroys our life. Like our children’s lifestyle after 25. Learn to settle some things so you can have peace.
  7. There are some things in life we cannot exceed. When you reach the limit, trust God after that.

Expect the best and prepare for the worst

  • Do all that you can and leave the rest to God.
  • Let God be God.
  • Some of us try to be God. Some people think they are the Holy Spirit. Leave what is God’s to God.
  1. There are things only God can do so behave yourself.
  2. There are things only God knows so shut up yourself. It’s okay to tell people “I don’t know”.
  3. There are things only God understands. Know what you know and thank God for what you know.
  4. There are things only God can explain. Know your limit. You are not God.
  • Now what your limitations are
  • Know what is not your responsibility
  • Know what is your responsibility
  • You must accept what you can and cannot do; it gives you peace.
  • Write your obituary every day. We are all going to die. Get involved in the ministry. There is a paragraph missing from your obituary of where it could have been said that you did, but if you didn’t, it cannot be said.

Kingdom faith is submitted to God.

David knew his limitations.

My heart is not proud, Lord, my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me.

Psalm 131:1
  1. Everything is temporary.
    – If people are acting insane around you, they are temporarily insane.
  2. Never add a permanent solution to a temporary problem.
    – We sometimes make decisions because of pressure.
  3. The most dangerous thing to lose in life is your faith.
    – When faith is lost, life has nothing left.
    – You have lost everything.

5 So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself. 6 The chief priests picked up the coins and said, โ€œIt is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.โ€

Matthew 27:5-6
  • Peter and Judas had the same problem. They both denied Jesus, one got paid for it. Both could have been saved but Judah applied a permanent solution to a temporary solution. We can all be forgiven but if you don’t believe it you create permanent solutions.

Nothing is as permanent as change; change is constant.

  • We live as if it is never going to change.
  • Change is gonna come. The crisis is the cause of change. Some things are a result of you and some aren’t. Learn to manage it properly so it doesn’t destroy you.
  • Disappointment is only possible where the expectation is present. Minimize your expectations.
  • Sometimes we believe that if we prepare for something it will happen, but the disappointment will be less.
  • Unexpected change – that way we will be strong for our family etc. so we can be strong for the present when the future comes.
  • Expect the worst so you won’t be offended.
  • Mourning over someone for 6 weeks is a disgrace to God. He told us that our days are numbered.
  • Ecclesiastes 3:1- people come on season, positions come in seasons, marriage comes in seasons. You don’t quit life because there is a season. Don’t quit in the middle of a season. God says the Weeping endures only for a night.
  • When God makes a shift, it is only for a season. He wants different moods for different seasons.
  • Between being born and dying, you better work. The dash in the middle of your tombstone is your life, how long is your dash?
  • Paul didn’t just change the world, he changed.

13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14
  • Sometimes God doesn’t tell us how he will get us to the next level but change must come.
  • If you are going through a hard time, it is because your change is coming. Get ready to move forward.
  • Faith doesn’t quit. Mature people don’t panic, they plan.
  • Maturity is measured by how you respond to change.
  1. The key to effective living is the capacity and ability to manage the expected and the unexpected.
  2. Success is measured by your ability to maintain personal balance in times of turmoil.
  3. Maturity is measured by your capacity to respond effectively to tragedy and chaos.
  4. We manage change and we manage it by the grace of God.
    – You cannot believe something unless you doubt it first.
    – Nothing is yours until you understand it.
    – Faith means belief.
    – Discover God for yourself.
    – Unexplained tragedy and you still trust in God is faith, when you have no evidence around but what God said.
    – The fight in tragedy is faith.
    – Can God say to you like He did as Job that, “I know my servant and call your name”?
    – Whatever you have, God gave you.
    – When you come through this you will have a seven times life. He will multiply. Go through the test.
    – Serve the Lord for nothing. That is faith. (Like Job)

11 But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

1 Timothy 6:11-12

Endurance

  • There are people depending on you.
  • Tell your neighbour, “pass it”
  • Play through the pain.
  • Fight the good fight of the faith.
  • Don’t fight the enemy. He is after your faith, once you stop believing, he wins.
