NOTES: Insecurities

This is about to be a heavy revealing one for many of us because this is actually something we all have experienced at least one point in our lives.

I attended a seminar yesterday (yes this is as present day as it gets) and the information I received was so life-changing that I had to share it with you guys and I hope it blesses and changes your look on the broken mirror.

Speaker: Kerie-Ann “Kiki” Thombs

  • You enter the world pure and as diamonds and regardless of being through dirt and the muck of life, once you clean that, you still are the diamond.
  • Do you go to church or to God with the same insecurities that you experience around your friends, family members etc? Wondering if you’re doing Christianity right, and not feeling the Holy Spirit? Or some of us feel we have an image to maintain.
  • We need to know the source of our insecurities.

What Can We Do?

Have an honest conversation with ourself. Women have an issue with women insecurities. They don’t have an issue with each other but we have an issue with our own insecurities. Do you feel a little jealous about someone on social media or feel low? Are you believing in yourself and dreams? Do you fade away when with your friends? Are those qualities the truth of who you are or do you camouflage your insecurities?

We look on ourselves in the mirror mainly for two reasons, to either criticize or fix something. We hardly just look. Think about what you’re struggling with and what caused these insecurities. Look on yourself, just look.

This (our body) is who we are, all we have and how we connect to God.
If we have a broken concept of ourselves, we have that in our relationship with God and we put him in a box.

When you hear truth, you’ll know it’s truth.

It is better to be working on yourself than to be on your phone and in social media. It’s now the way we use to be seen, heard and validated, so be careful of the role you allow social media to play in your life.

When your mind has been trained, you start functioning from your sub-conscious thoughts without knowing that you’re functioning that way.

If your mom was busy as a child and now as an adult she is overworked and you’re excited to talk to her, she feels tired. Your mind interprets that as she doesn’t care about you. That then affects how you interact with your mom and how you interact with others. That’s how you’re going to walk around, thinking that “nobody cares.” You might not want to speak when you want to because you think no one will care and you are determining the outcome of something that is in your mind.

Think also of this reality… there are billions of people in this world and we all are created differently and our perception of reality is different.

Activity

1. Put a picture of yourself and on one side make a heading one with mom and the other side dad.
In the table, add all of your mom’s good qualities and not so good qualities. Same with dad.

We learn from observation. So you may have those same qualities even though you don’t like them in others. It is very easy to point them out in others.

Put all the person’s you were raised with. Eg. If it was a grandmother etc.

2.  Write down all of your insecurities in pencil and leave a space between each point.
When your finished, write the opposite of those insecurities in a bright inked pen and erase all the negatives.
Do that for at least 66 days in order for it to sink in on a subconscious level.

Recommendation: You can record all the positives and listen to them before night to hijack your brain.

Brokenness means we came in pure and somewhere something cracked. The broken thoughts are not us.

The mirror is broken, not you.

Whoever you are on the inside, that is who you will attract.
How are you showing love? What are you doing?? They may be showing you how you are treating yourself. So if you aren’t putting yourself before others, they will show that to you.

You’ll spot yourself in someone from a mile away, someone that has similar characteristics as you.

How do you build your self worth?
ANSWER = FORGIVE.

When was the last time someone said, “It’s not your fault. You’re just moving from a false concept of who you are and this is not you.”?

Go back to the basic. Picture yourself as the pure baby. You’re not as [INSERT THOUGHT HERE] as you think.

You are worthy because of who you are, just clean off the diamond.

How did you get to seeing yourself as worthy from God’s perspective?

Break and God will begin nursing you. You’ll realise that you were drowning because you were “broken.”

A broken Christian is still a broken Christian.

Humans punish, God teaches lessons. He has you.

God won’t move until you move.

Go with a pure understanding that where all of us are gathered, it blesses Him.

Self Discovery

  • Understanding love and what that means for you.
  • Understanding feelings and emotions. When you start having positive thoughts, neurogenesis starts happening annd the Bible speaks about changing your thoughts. The chemical released from your thoughts affects your emotions. Decide that you’re not doing anything anymore and shed some things. Write down who you are. It’s not about you. It’s about what we can do for everybody else.
  • Changing your mind.
  • Look closely at gender differences. Men are simple and women are complex. We need to know that that it is how it is and we need each other. Each one is carrying out their role.
  • If you have experienced trauma, get help.
  • Find humor. Look at the statistics of a child laughing per day versus and adult. We should be able to find the humor in things.
  • Find things that motivate you.
  • Get your finances in order.

Search for your purpose.

Don’t be afraid to explore. Don’t limit yourself and put yourself in a box, especially if you are multitalented.

Sometimes we think our gifts are our purpose, but they just help it.

It is better to live the best version of yourself.

Who you are, you have your own audience in your own unique way.
Don’t chase purpose, chase God.

There are clues all in our lives. That one thing that was synonymous about you. What people always say about you. We take the cluses for granted because they come so naturally to us.

We all experience some things and have to cope to deal with it.

You overcome insecurities by being who you were created to be.

Some people are addicted to their pain and their broken story.
