NOTES: Moses and Purpose

It is a beautiful day to reflect on the life of Moses, isn’t it? I’m currently reading In Pursuit of Purpose – Myles Munroe and one of the chapters briefly said some things about Moses that I had to of course take note of and share with you guys. I do hope this encourages you as it did me and it helps you in your pursuit of purpose.

Moses was born a DELIVERER. Before he was given or his purpose revealed to him, he was trying to deliver.

When he went out the next day, behold, two Hebrews were struggling together. And he said to the man in the wrong, “Why do you strike your companion?” He answered, “Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you mean to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid, and thought, “Surely the thing is known.”

Exodus 2:13‭-‬14 ESV

He wanted to set people free.

– God reclaimed the purpose He had for Moses after he ran away and tended to his father-in-law’s sheep (Exodus 2:1-3:1) and sent him back to Egypt (Exodus 3:10)

Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”

VARIETY of purpose is seen in the life of Moses.

• Spokesman of God to the Pharaoh of Egypt (Exodus 3-13).
• The warrior of God, who by his uplifted hands brought victory over the Amalekites (Exodus 17:8-13).
• The priest of God who mediated between God and His people (Exodus 19-31).
• The servant of God who interceded for an idolatrous people (Exodus 32:1-14).
• The lawgiver of God who authored the first 5 books of the Bible.

Now that we have covered some points on the life of Moses as it relates to purpose, homework time!!!!

1. What are some characteristics in Moses do you see in yourself?
2. What was something from the “Variety of Purpose” list did you not know before? Research to learn more about it.
3. Do you know anyone that reminds you of Moses? What other traits do they have related to purpose?
4. Pray and ask God to reveal to you specifically what you need to hear or know about the life of Moses.
