Here is the recommended playlist material : Killing Repetitive Sins
Some months ago I posted a blog on how my relationship with music has been most of my life.
I actually was in conversation with a friend of mine after the blog was posted and he asked me a very important question, “How do we get rid of these desires?”
What was really interesting to me was that the feelings and struggles that I had towards music was not only applicable to music. People are able to relate to the same struggles in other areas in their lives.
So, how do we say “no” to these desires that once controlled us and how we function?
It is a daily process.
If you think about it, it has to be a decision that you make daily, just like taking up your cross, it has to be a daily decision you make to say that you’re going to leave this at the foot of God.
Many times we decide to let this desire go and it comes back maybe a year later, or even a few hours after and we fall right back into the very same thing God saved us from.
I remind myself daily to not allow that to keep me trapped there.
If I find myself slipping up on music, or it could be for you binge watching specific content, I am aware that what I’m doing is going to drain me and so I stop.
I change the music. I replace the desire with something that I lack that pleases God. I get up and do something else. Sometimes when the feeling comes, I just run a bit, or just take a walk around the house. I physically get up so I mentally can leave the struggle as well. I pray. Hello, let us not sleep on God in bringing us through…
The truth is though, this may not work for everyone, and that is okay. We learn from each other and I must say, here are a few things that I found. Feel free to leave tips with others in the comment section as well.
I am putting many different resources here because I know that we all are struggling with something and that’s your business.
