TEA TIME WITH RUTHIE: How Is Your Heart?

Something that I learnt from Sara Jakes-Roberts is asking this question. Sometimes we don’t really even think about how we are doing or how to answer these questions to the best of our ability.

What I do realise is that a lot of times we tend to not answer these honestly because we are thinking about how others may think of us or how much of a burden we feel to others.

I tell myself that they ask because they care and I ask others because I care. So that means, there is no reason to feel I have to adjust.

HOW IS YOUR HEART?

Answer these questions with this scene and environment in mind. You are with your closest friends and you are catching up in real time with no social media or communication barriers. You talk about faith, love, life, school, work and everything in between. How would you guys answer these questions?

  • Have you been working in your fullest capacity?
  • Have you been able to effectively work with team members?
  • Is your mind at peace when you think about where you were and where you are now?
  • Have you forgiven?
  • Have you been consistent with God?
  • Have you been pulling from the right place?
  • How is your emotional state?
  • Have you been working on something that you struggle with?
  • Do you feel taken for granted?
  • Are you a compare-driven person? What can you do to change that if you are?
  • Have you overcome jealousy and pride?
  • Did you ask someone for help this week?
  • Do you feel like a weak link?

All of these are very specific questions to think about when someone asks you “how you are doing?” or “how is your heart?”

Even if at the time you don’t feel you have the right answer to the question or maybe you don’t even feel comfortable to have a sit down and talk about how your heart really is, take some time to reflect on it in your personal time.

This world needs to have moments of silence and no movement. We sometimes need to be reflective. Take a break from the fast-pacing, get ready and quick life, and march to the pace of a heartbeat.

This was just a reminder, to check on yourself, check on your family members, friends and those that you love.

  1. Thanks Ruthie. I screenshot the questions so I can sit and reflect every now and again and maybe even ask friends so they can reflect too.
    Thank you for posting ♥️👏🏾
