LETTER TO THOSE WHO: Silently Struggle

I started this series last year and it was a very important one to me because sometimes when I write stuff like this I write to the girl I used to be and what I would want someone to say to me when I was at that place.

Something that I learnt was that everybody is going through something and just like grief, we deal with it differently.

I’m sure you know of people that have the worst family situations and they are the most compassionate, or people that just lost a family member and they decide to take everybody out for ice-cream.

Regardless of how we respond to what we are facing, there are a lot of times that we do not even think about sharing how we feel with others. Some of us were basically raised to not expresss but to mask up (talk about before the pandemic).

I wanted to just encourage you, because you may be the person who is really going through it right now or you may know that your friend is and they just won’t say a word.

I healed from a lot of things when I just talked to someone about it and I know that there aren’t trustworthy people out there but once, I went to a stranger. Crazy right? I think it was God orchestrated to be honest because I saw the person make a post on their social media about something they were going through and I thanked them for sharing how they got out and just how they felt after going through it.

Eventually they responded and “opened the door” for me to basically shoot a message if needs be. I took that opportunity with my whole heart because in that season I was working on not being shy anymore and just taking any opportunity that came my way.

I just said everything that I was struggling with. I did. I just let it all out. And I did it because I knew in my mind that everything that was linked to me being free from that pain was just me talking to someone about it.

You’d not believe this, but within a few days, my life changed. She didn’t respond with any crazy response or something that I didn’t already know but she responded from an unbiased but “I experienced this too” place and her words comforted me.

Let me go back to this part… within a few days, I was healed. And when I say healed I don’t just mean emotionally. I mean physically I was having some “implications” and it changed completely.

Now, I’m definitely not saying that this will work for everyone but I just want you to really know that it gets better. I know a lot of people don’t even want to know “what happened to me was”, they want to know what can happen for them. What can change in their life

And I say this not because I don’t want to be seen as someone who “doesn’t go through things” but as someone who knows that prayers are answered and that God never created us to worry. He never even loses a battle so I know that there is more in store for you.

And sometimes silently you struggle and you come through, but know that you were never created to go through life on your own. That is a fact. You sometimes even go through it and end up back at the same place because maybe you had no one to keep you accountable.

I hope you keep this in mind on those days you really just need to hold out your hand and things change. I hope that you realise that there is space for you to be victorious.

Victory is not only for your church leaders or the happy friends in your life. It isn’t even just for the anointed and the most called on. As a Child of God, you have all of the qualifications of winning and being at peace. And I say at peace because the peace of the word just is not the same.

When you experience it, you’ll know that it is God.

  1. Needed.
Sometimes prayer will be our only comfort and that’s okay. I have been at a low place for the past few days and last night I decided to rewatch ‘war room,’ it reminded me that I can’t fight these battles, only God can… and I need to ask him to.

    Thanks for sharing Ruth!!!đź’›
