REFLECTION: Lessons From January

It is the first day of the second month of January, and I must say, According to my journal, January was way better than 2020, and if you checked my reflection on 2020, you would have seen that last year was the best year of my entire life!! I applied a lot of things differently this year that later on I will discuss with you guys, but here are a few things that I learnt this month or things that I applied to my life this month that either had a positive or negative impact on how I function.

If you haven’t already, please go and reflect on how your month was. You’ll only know how much you have progressed if you take some time and think about it. You know? Maybe some new habits you took on etc. It doesn’t even need to be something the whole world knows about, I’m not even sharing that. Just get yourself to think about it and that way next month you’ll see how much things have changed.

  • It is important that I know that even when I slip up and start over, I should not dwell on the past but focus on the now and what is happening before me.
  • Putting myself out there opens endless windows of opportunities.
  • I am way more capable than I think I am and that explains why the expectations of those I value are so high.
  • It is not my duty to reach the expectations of everyone.
  • Giving myself grace. I need to give my thoughts, emotions and process grace.
  • Obedience is better than sacrifice.
  • God teaches Geography too.
  • God is able to do far more exceedingly abundantly above all than I can ask or think.
  • Not all wins need to be publicized.
  • Your work should speak for itself.
  • What is for you no one can take from you. No matter how hard they try.
  • Your only competition is your procrastination.
  • My limits don’t exist because God is with me always.
  • I am way smarter than I think and I am able to surpass the expectations of those that matter and even those who don’t.
  • My opportunities are endless and I took the ones for me with a smile. I am able to do more because I walked in faith and God then broadens my territory.
  • Don’t take up everything presented to you. Say no. You cannot help everyone and that is okay. God will send someone to help them.
  • Don’t feel responsible for the dreams of others. If they fall of, sometimes it is best you don’t even waste your time.
  • Healing is not easy but it is worth it in the end.
  • Regardless of what people say, their actions are louder.
  • Not everyone will support you every day and that is okay. It is important that you support yourself every day. They are your dreams, your visions and your aspirations.
  • No one really is pumped about your passions as you are, so they’ll be excited now and annoyed later, but that is okay.
  • Not everyone you start with you continue with.
  • What God has birthed in me is bigger than I can see but I’ll work on what is in front of me for now.
  • I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
  • My heart is a blessing.
  • My contribution is important.
  • My voice changes things.
  • My faith moves mountains.
  • I am my biggest supporter. (After the Trinity).
  • I can write as much as I want without feeling the need to adjust because I’m content in my craft.
  • My experience is not only for me, but for those that come after me and those that come after them.
  • Breaking generational curses, traits, mentalities and behaviors will never come easy.
  • I am not my situation.
  • I have confidence in Christ.
  • Anxiety is not my portion.
  • Depression is not my portion.
  • My past does not define me.
  • I am only defined by what God says and not what man sees because man looks at the outward appearance and God looks at the heart.
  • People will treat me like a shepherd but God sees royalty and I will only act as such.
  • The neglect or mistreatment of others cannot define my worth.
  • I deserve grace to myself and patience.
  • It’s okay if you cannot support everyone every day.
  • Investing in yourself is only your business. No one will value it as much as you because they aren’t you.
  • You don’t have to compete or race with anyone at all. Differnet journeys.

  1. It is wise to learn from our experiences as well as the experiences of others. Accomplishing our God given assignments in life requires both reflection and meditation. Our meditation should be on the Word of God. Continue to inspire and encourage others by sharing your personal life lessons Ruthie. God bless you!

    1. Thank you very much. This was a lesson I learnt when I was in High School. An older friend told me that I don’t have to experience everything. My friend’s experiences should also be my experiences.
