By the beginning of every year, we all gather our dreams, goals and plans for the New Year. Many of us invest in yearly planners, maybe products for that new business, but by the end of January or maybe mid-February, we would have gone right back to what we did in the previous year that caused us to miss out on great opportunities.
This year is the year that I’m going to randomly remind you that there was a plan and promise that you made to yourself, and you need to keep it.
I really want us to all take the time this year to work, one big goal at a time, by hitting the small goals leading up to that goal. A few years ago that was my issue; I was fighting to meet at least 7 big goals at once, and that drained me. So for the past 2 years I have been really working on focusing on one goal at a time and believe me, I am so proud of myself.
There are a few things that I wanted to ensure that you do considering that we are still at the beginning of the year. I do hope that none of us completely forgot about the promises we made to ourself and some of us, to God.
New Year Resolution Checklist
- Ensure that you are still clear on your goal.
- Go back through the plans you had made for 2021. Erase the “irrational” goals and tick off the ones you have already accomplished.
- Set up a game plan for the small goals that lead up to a big goal.
- Ensure that all of your plans are in alignment with what God’s Word says. His plans are never to harm you and He is the giver of good and perfect gifts, so I’d keep that in mind at all times.
- Keep something to yourself. Eveyebody doesn’t need to know your next move. Respectfully.
- Pray over your goals.
- Be organized. Have different sections if needs be.
- Set rational deadlines.
- You don’t have to limit your dreams to 2021. Some dreams require starting now and being seen with the naked eye in 10 years. Write those down and work towards them.
- Give yourself grace when things aren’t going your way.
- Leave space for more things. Always leave space. You might be surprised at how new desires just pop up and you might be ready and able to pursue.
- Never give up. Regardless of how difficult this time may be, do not allow yourself to give up on a dream that only you can see.
Encouragement
There were a few posts that I literally saw prior to writing this that I think makes us feel more excited about this process and time in our life. I say this because a lot of us are breaking ancestral tendencies and facing those traumas. Some are breaking generational curses and some are doing it on their own so they need a good word or two.
