GRATITUDE JOURNAL: 3 Nature Things I’m Grateful For

Young adults, children, and adults alike… HELLO! I think I sometimes forget to do like a welcome and get straight to the point. But I do hope you all are working on those 2021 Vision Boards and pursuing purpose one day and one moment at a time.

As a lover of books, nature and people I wanted to start a series this year on a random number of things I am grateful for and see what lessons we can learn from them. As always, I love hearing your experiences and this will be a good exercise for us if we sit and think about things from these categories that we are grateful for.

1. Ants

Some of you guys are already ready to click off, but hear me out. Ants are so fun. I know many of us when we were younger (exclusive shoutout to the forever young gang!!) used to draw lines when they saw ants because they knew that ants won’t cross. Since I have basically been living in the backyard of my home, I spend so much time with them that they are basically family. I am so intrigued by their teamwork. I remember when was younger, I would “share” my lunch with ants just to watch whichever amount of them gather together to carry a piece of chicken and some vegetables (let’s keep this between us, but I have changed. I love vegetables).

2. Grass

Courtesy of my backyard

I know my mom is so ready to say, “You know grass is really good for you?” But yes, as I said before, I have been on the outside consistently for the past 2 months and grass as grass, but now grass is GRASS! It deserves its flowers lol. I love the feel of it between my cute toes (Side note: I am open for booking as a foot model. Yes, I have received that compliment so I am just awaiting my agent booking me). Grass really is just green and nice and pleasant. Sometimes I am known by my friends by my weird comparisons and explanations. With grass, it reminds me of this thought “Are you willing to be used and not acknowledged or recognized?” A lot of us forget that yes the Apostle is needed and the Pastors are called by God but some of us are the very foundation that keeps the church which is the people together. We forget that we need the soft-hearted usher when a kid falls on the church grounds. And this is not about ranking or “who is most called” but are you willing to be soemone that changed the life of someone just by tending to their spirit off the pulpit? Does everyone has to know your name even, or you function? Do you need to only pursue purpose if there is a nametag attached? You only perform if the lights are on? You are planning on leaving the lights to be ran by just someone else? But yes, sometimes we need to be grass before we are an oak tree but that is for another time.

3. Crickets

Oh don’t say it. ALLOW ME. “Ruth-Ann done lost her mind!!!!!” Crickets keep us up but it also keeps us company. What is a starry night without the crickets reminding us that they exist? For me I want to use them as a reminder, “They are doing what they are created to do, am I?” I want to be that bothering to everyone else. I want to be a cricket in my purpose fulfillment. I want to be so consistent that they hear me before they can ever even find me. I want to be so loud that they think that I am of a bigger species than I really am. I want to make people uncomfortable. They should never feel like where they are is enough. THIS CAN PREACH, HELLO!!! Another thing about crickets, they are never silent. I want to be a worshipper that is never only scheduled on Sundays at 9 to maybe 10. Imagine if some of us TAPPED out of that. Imagine if crickets only worked on days they got to meet up with each other? That would bring joy to some but let’s really look on the lesson here. We all are created for a purpose that was placed inside us before we were even born, I am sensing a purpose blog here *adds to list*. MAKE THEM HEAR YOUR GIFTS!

Be sure to tell me 3 random things in ature that you are grateful for and why. Maybe get a notebook or a jar like some do and really think about things that are a blessing to your life. Share them with me so we can all learn from God’s perfect creation.

These are just a few words in Jesus Name, Amen. (Inserts plug: Guys search “Just A Few Words” on social media. I know and love the person behind the platform so just show her some love. Yes used her name in my closing. #GENIUS).

  1. That warm -subtle like sunshine … Usually felt/seen dusk or dawn times. Its gentle , and reminds one of the calm this earth can bring regardless of the sizzling heat and dazzling brightness . Soft gusts of wind ,they’re chill . Rocks and such, there’s a therapeutic roughness to their touch , esp. by foot or headback (depending on the intensity of the situation).

  2. A woman of wise words. A woman of Noble character. I’m reading proverbs this month and there is a particular verse that compares ants to sluggards (Proverbs 6:6 I believe). It reminds us of how the insignificant and smallest of things can be much more productive and purposeful than the ones that are so huge and visible. So thank you, Wisdom, I love you a whole lottt!!!
