STORYTIME: It Must Have Been An Angel Part 3

We talked about so many stories about us being an angel to others or those being like an angel to us. Sometimes it really is better that we do not know if people in our lives are really angels because that way, we treat everyone with respect and love. We also are not so surprised when people treat us with love because that is how we treat others; with a helping hand.

The story I am about to share caught me all the way off guard to be frank. I was on my way to being Worried Wendy. Let’s start off with the taxi driver.

Story Time

I was heading into town one day to shop for a few things. When I got into the cab (wanted to say that for my international audience) and was almost there, I realized that I left my purse at home. I don’t know about anyone else. But this is my routine when I am going anywhere…

  • Take up purse before I shower
  • Shower
  • Check for purse in bag before I get dressed
  • Get dressed
  • Check for mask (thanks COVID-19)
  • Check for purse.
  • Leave the house and close up.
  • Check for purse.
  • Walk to the bus stop.
  • Check for purse.
  • Get to bus stop
  • Check for purse
  • Get in the cab.
  • Check for purse.

Now you see I have a whole routine to ensure that I don’t leave my purse or cash at home. I couldn’t tell you what went wrong this time but a sis done cried a river. I was stuck. I didn’t know what to do. I wanted to panic, but I knew that was NOT going to help in this situation. Regardless, I was about to be a legal adult soon and I can’t exactly tell these stories without feeling a tad embarrassed.

PLEASE NOTE// I was the last one in the car by the time I realised I was in this compromising situation.

I took out my phone, praying that my dad would pick up. I told the driver that I left my cash at home. NOW THIS IS WHERE THE HAND OF GOD CAME IN❗❗❗❗

The taxi man was saying he had no problem with me just getting a free ride into Spanish Town. Now I told him that would be great but there are things in my purse that I need to even come here in the first place and also… get home. Then he said, “Oh, can you call someone to meet you with your purse if I turn back?”

HOLD UP WAIT A MINUTE!!!

He began to tell me that he knows both me and my dad because he sees my dad walk with me to the bus stop on my way to school and he really loves how caring individuals we were. Like what? Who does that? He literally had the kindest things to say to me and I was…

This literally goes to show that you really shouldn’t think ever that you aren’t being seen. People see you and how you act in any specific moment can really influence how people see you, your family and God. (No pressure, but you know encouragement). I really was taken aback though, like… his description of us, I was like… you got all of this from me just… walking to and from school? I think he even said he carried me sometimes, but I’m so bad with occasional public faces (when I say public, I mean like workers or people from public places). I still cannot believe this man brought me back to where he first picked me up, and back into the Town, and even asked me where specifically I was going and dropped me off. If anyone from Jamaica reads this and is confused, amma pray for you because young and old know generally how these taxi drivers are (said drivers because females drive too).

Until Part 4 because this seems like it just might become a norm for me, be an angel in someone’s life and reflect on your days and think about areas that really were good moments that as humans we value and could use more of. Sometimes we are so busy we don’t realize that we missed a lot of good happening in our own lives.

  1. Wow. Can you Imagine if it was another driver who would’ve probably told you to get out and left you stranded. God saw that you left your purse and strategically placed that taxi at your bus stop right when you needed him.
Well then again, it was no coincidence that you left your purse, maybe God wanted you to meet that person so that you could see that you are seen. Could have been that because of a stereotype you place on taxi drivers that God wanted to show you otherwise. Wow! So much to take from this story. I enjoyed it so much. Loving your ‘must have been an angel ‘ series. I pray you meet many more so you can tell us your stories.
