Since Quarantine, a lot of us came to the realisation that we didn’t exactly have God at the center of our lives. We all “had important stuff to do” and “priorities”. Many of us got the awakening that really and truly, we do not run the world. Life happens, things out of human control happens, and we weren’t exactly “God-pleasing”, but life-pleasing, people-pleasing, past-pleasing, and life-goals pleasing.
For me, I was granted an opportunity I wanted my whole life. To be able to see the world stop and give my ALL to God. No school, no ‘events’, just me and God. Maybe I didn’t want it to happen this way, but I still took the chance that I was given.
When COVID-19 first became something known, no one knew that it would encompass almost a whole year right? We all thought it was a quick “this too shall pass” moment. I read in an article that they are predicting it to last for another year, so… What now? Do we just, adapt, and move on? Complain and ignore curfews, or still, in the midst of everything stand on the promises of God?
Something many of our fellow brothers and sisters learnt the hard way is that, We don’t listen to God. We don’t wait on him. We only speak/pray, and as we say amen, we get up and become a Martha.

Only if we paid attention to God’s ways in His Word, we would realise that He is also an avid speaker. We for the most part are never ready to hear from Him. He has so much to say to us, but of course, our bosses’ voice is louder. Our issues are piling up so we can’t see Him. Our gossip time is so exciting, so we don’t hear His cry. Our self-discrimination is so hurtful that we cannot feel Him.
We told each other that 5 minutes of prayer a day was okay. Aren’t we seeing the effects of that? Many of us know that that makes no sense but we were so careful… we quoted, “Judge, lest you be judged“. So we don’t look after our brothers and sisters being far from our Father.
We realised that routines and consistency were non-existent in us. We saw that our life really had a lot of unimportant stuff taking up our time and they all clogged up our pipes.
I was watching a sermon by Myles Munroe and he taught me that many of us have very little pipes that are clogged up, and if you think about it, many of us will miss Praise and Worship because we didn’t make breakfast and have to buy breakfast at Burger King.
Something I began to live by in quarantine was, “Eat More Often“. Eat more spiritually than physically. Be spiritually gratified.
Did you know that you aren’t hungry right now? That is called habit. we were created to naturally go without water for 4days, and food for about 30-40 days. That is why anything over a 40-day fast is not medically advised.
As shocking as that is to those that didn’t listen in Science class, many of us eat at least 3 times a day, excluding snacks, and that is because we have to. Majority of what we eat are probably snacks and we cannot even give God an ample amount of minutes in the bathroom at home or work, like whe*we sneak for a snack or two.
How much time do you give Him? YouVersion Devotions in the morning, and then a song or two from social media, a prayer to bed and you think your spiritual man is edified. You call yourself saved and called by God? To do what?
I’m not sorry for saying this, but at this rate, your spiritual man may very well be gravely ill, deathbed maybe? Imagine, many of us are not even consulting the Maker on how to fix this.
We think we served enough time to God. It’s seasonal.”I’m mature enough now”. NO. That just doesn’t make any sense. And we complain when there is crime, we argue when we have bad drivers and when we are not at our best. We blame society for being the way that we saw it and left it.
Eat. More. Often. You cannot be quarantined this long and when it ends, you come back the same way to your friends and family members. Be unrecognizable. When the day of judgement comes, there will be a lot of “many are those who“. Let me give brief examples.
There Will Be Many Who…
- Many of us will know the whole KFC and BK menu more than why Jesus died for us.
- Many will know the Hot Topics and Basketball statistics more than why God told us not to fear 365 times.
- Many will know how to make the best casserole and don’t know how to make a sacrifice unto God.
- Many will be too woke for conversations with “new believers” or “too spiritual brothers and sisters” than hearing God at a consistency.
- Many will know all social media kinks and tricks and not know how to tap into the spirit.
I know that God still speaks and work miracles.
In John 14:12-14, Jesus told us that greater things than these we will do… and anything we ask for, He will do it.
The Answered Prayer
12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you [a]ask anything in My name, I will do it.
JOHN 12:12-14 NKJV
But, we are full. Our pipes are dirty with hate, gossip, resentment, impatience, infatuation, begrudging hearts and jealousy. We are focused more on being worldly than pleasing God. I saw on someone’s WhatsApp Status yesterday that our flesh only desires the things of this earth because we want to, not need. We need God.
We say that it is okay if you don’t know 100% what you’re doing and that God sees the effort and understands, but if we call no time at all effort, we have it all wrong.
We only believe in God for others and we don’t pray for ourselves. We don’t even know what Jesus would say about our last option He shouldn’t be our deathbed option.
A Bible Character’s Action
The best person that comes to mind is Esther.
(FULL story is in the book of Esther).
//QUICK SUMMARY//
So Esther’s husband, King Ahasuerus (Xerxes I), made an order in Persia to basically kill all of the Jews throughout His empire. All of this was under the influence of a not so nice guy named Haman, my 7 year old self is still saddened by his actions. Haman was the king’s chief minister and he wanted to “get rid of the Jews” obviously because of their faith, but his real target was the cousin of Esther, Mordecai. Mordecai never wanted to bow down to Haman, and Haman even made a gallow for Mordecai to be killed. Modecai found out the evil plan that Haman had and told Queen Esther that she must do something to save the people. The King and Haman didn’t know that the Queen was Jewish because Mordecai told Esther to keep her family background and nationality secret. (If the King knew, I doubt he would’ve made that order). So, in those days, you could be executed if you entered into the presence of the King without being called, even if you were the Queen and so…
She asked Mordecai and the Jews to pray and fast WITH her!!!!!
15 Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: 16 “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”
ESTHER 4:15-16
As in, she didn’t go to church and ask the intercessors to pray, she already was praying for herself, she just called for backup. Many of us don’t even realise the power that God has given to us over our own situations.
And you can’t have confidence in yourself or your situation if you don’t believe in God.
I’m not talking about being an Atheist. Or knowing of Him. Do you know God? Not just His ways. Not His abilities in others’ life. Do you know Him?
Or are you denying Him in every aspect of your life at least 3 times a day? (Saw that Peter reference?)
Do not allow yourself to be an associate of God, or a mutual friend. I told my friends this some months ago and it really sticks.
Do not allow yourself to be an associate of God, or a mutual friend.

Imagine This…
// Closing Life Scene // Judgement Day.
God: I heard a lot about you, you are friends with Ruth right?
You just got rejected. Departed. Unknown. All your life you told others about a God that doesn’t even know you personally, but on an associate level. The few times His children bring you up, which may be to pray or complain.
Do not let that be you.
Don’t be a mutual friend of God. Know Him. Accept His friend request.
Dine with Him.
Quick Story
An actress said that in an encounter she had, she was reading a Bible passage and she decided to ‘Dine with the Father‘. She set up dinner for two. she opened the door. She did everything she would as if He were right there… And He came. She sat down and God spoke to her. (I had in mind to do a series on Encounter I had with God. Tell me what you think about that).
THIS IS 2020 !!!!!!!
You cannot afford to be losing battles and missing out on what God is doing because reading is not your thing, or you don’t pray like Aunty and Uncle.
I’m about to get truculent with you. Just like you learnt at work how to do your job and do it well, or you learnt to play PUBG with your friends, LEARN TO READ THE BIBLE AND PRAY.
If you really want more from life, the best thing that you can gift yourself is God. This reminds me of a line from a song,
The best thing I can do for me is You.
JONATHAN MCREYNOLDS – BEST THING
For some, it’s years and no growth. Grab what is yours in Him.
What Can I Do Ruth?
- Every time you are about to prepare a meal, ensure that you meet with the Father 2 times more than you ate.
- 5 minutes isn’t cutting it anymore. After you pray, WAIT. BASK. Soak Him in. Take the peace and quiet in.
- Read your Bible more than you do anything else. Know Him.
- Make sure His altar is the highest. No other altar.
- Eat from Him. It’s not just morning and night or just Sundays, FEAST from Him.
- Be safe and spend time praising Him.
- Give Him your life, not just the “Acceptance Prayer“. Your life. 24 hours in a day and you say 5 minutes?
It really makes no sense.
I was reading a book about prayer and a couple stated that there was a main rule that they live by in their household,
No prayer, no breakfast.
– A COUPLE IN MINISTRY.
They didn’t feed their physical body until they had met with their Father in the early mornings. Let this be our posture.
Read your Bible. Pray every little and big moment of the day.
EAT MORE OFTEN.
EAT MORE OFTEN.
